The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) – also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and generally referred to as “OBAMACARE” is a law that was signed in 2010 stating that all individuals who are lawfully present in the USA must have health insurance. Like any insurance, you will need to enroll every year.

 

North Hudson Community Action Corporation has trained and deployed Certified Application Counselors throughout Hudson, Passaic and Bergen counties. Our counselors offer FREE ASSISTANCE during the entire year with:

 

  • Health insurance education
  • Enrollment process
  • Applications follow up
  • Appeals
  • Exemptions

 

If you are interested in applying, for you or any member of your family, you will need to bring the following information applicable to you as well as everyone that you declare in your income taxes:

 

  • Income taxes
  • Green card
  • Work permit
  • Social security card
  • Certification of naturalization / citizenship
  • Social security benefits
  • Pensions
  • Retirement payments
  • Letter of alimony payed or received
  • Three most recent pay stubs
  • Unemployment benefits
