About North Hudson Community Action Corporation

MISSION STATEMENT

Our goal is to promote and improve the quality of life and eliminate factors leading to poverty for northern New Jersey residents by providing comprehensive health and social services with compassion through collaborations and partnerships in a culturally sensitive environment.

OUR HISTORY

North Hudson Community Action was begun in 1965 during the War on Poverty. It’s first program was Head Start and in following years many social services were added. In 1994 North Hudson opened its first Federally Qualified Heath Center. That means a place where health services are provided that meets the high quality standards set by the US Department of Health and where a portion of costs is paid by the federal government.

Since 2013 North Hudson Health Centers have been accredited by the Joint Commission as Patient-Centered Medical Homes. This means they have met the highest standards for quality programs and services. They are audited regularly and are inspected at least once in every three year by Joint Commission and the US Health Resources and Services Administration.

North Hudson has also received a Certificate of Approval as a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, meaning they comply with all regulations set by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
