WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator

This is a full-time on-site role for a WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator located in Union City, NJ. The WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating breastfeeding education and support services, conducting assessments, developing breastfeeding plans, and providing counseling to WIC participants.

Qualifications

·         International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required

·         Knowledge of breastfeeding best practices and techniques

·         Experience in conducting assessments and developing breastfeeding plans

·         Strong counseling and communication skills

·         Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

·         Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus

·         Experience working in a community health or WIC program

Under the direction of the department’s Director of Mental Health, the Mental Health Facilitator organizes, performs and coordinates the delivery of mental health services to designated patients. Under the supervision of the Breastfeeding Manager, the Peer Counselor provides breastfeeding information and support to mothers, helping them to manage common breastfeeding concerns and overcome common barriers to breastfeeding in accordance with NHCAC and NJ Department of Health (DOH) policies and procedures.

Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri 8am-430pm                    Thurs 10am-630pm

Experience & Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent, has exclusively breastfed for 6 months, prior or current experience as a WIC participant preferred. Must complete the New Jersey WIC Services Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training upon hire. Bilingual in English and Spanish

Non-Public School Nurse (LPN or RN)

The Non-Public School Nurse (LPN or RN) is a pivotal role providing expertise and oversight for the provision of school health services.   Using clinical knowledge and judgment, the school nurse provides health care to students and staff. The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family and community.

Valid NJ State Licensed Nurse, CPR & AED current certification. Bi-Lingual English/Spanish a plus. Own means of transportation.  Per diem, 2-3 days per week.

The WIC Intake Representative performs the duties in accordance with NHCAC and NJ Department of Health (DOH) policies and procedures. Screen participants for WIC enrollment by eliciting proof of income, ID, family size, residency information and immunization records. Answer, transfer and return telephone calls .Prescreen new applicants. Explains WIC Program, reviews required documents and answers questions on program. Schedules appointments and follows-up with missed appointments. Participates in outreach activities. Travels to satellite sites as scheduled and/or needed.

Head Start Health Services Manager (LPN)

Under the supervision of the VP of HS/EHS Programs, the Health Services Manager is primarily responsible for the management, oversight and compliance of health services for the Head Start/Early Head Start programs of NHCAC as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.  The Health Services Manager ensures the health of children, families, and staff stays at the forefront of each program’s service delivery system.

Valid and in good standing NJ LPN license. Must have and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Valid and in good standing NJ driver’s license.

Knowledgeable in Early Childhood Education, Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff and other professionals.  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and embrace the cultural diversity of families.  Ability to work with infants/toddlers, preschool children, school aged children and adults. Understand and value the connections between health, behavioral health, and learning. Have a working knowledge of the HSPPS and other federal, state, territorial, tribal, and local requirements regarding health and safety in early care and education.

Accurate and quick entry of participant data in Social Assistance Management System. Answer phone calls from clients. Have initiative to handle clients for services and entitlements. Maintain and submit daily, monthly and quarterly reports to department head. Provide occasional administrative support. Attend required training courses and continuing education pertaining to job function.

Associates Degree. Experience in heavy customer service interaction including phone contact relative to the field of social services. Ability to work in a multi task environment. Proven data entry knowledge. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

Under the supervision of the Chief Nutritionist, the Nutritionist provides nutrition assessments, counseling and food package prescriptions for women, infants and children in accordance with NHCAC and NJ Department of Health (DOH) policies and procedures.

Required Education: Master of Science Degree in Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Dietetics, or Nutritional Science or be a Registered Dietitian. OR Bachelor of Science Degree in an approved Program in Dietetics with a DPD Verification Statement or Plan IV or V.
